Value Addition for Increased Market Access in Agro- Processing Sector

East African Women in Business Platform and IRTF under the EAC-GIZ project on Value Addition for Increased Market Access in Agro- Processing Sector is designed to support women enterprises in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda in Moringa value chain.. The project is focusing on Moringa Value chain and will directly support the realization of connecting and linking women in agro-processing business across three EAC partner states; Kenya Uganda and Tanzania. The idea to engage and support women producing and trading in Moringa products in these 3 countries, is focusing on improving competitiveness; strengthening of value addition on Moringa products for easy market access; peer sessions for companies; sensitization on simplified trade regime; business connection and linkages.

The idea comes from the experiences and observation from EAWiBP in facilitating women working in Agro processing sectors. It has identified gaps that need to be addressed which include raw material sourcing, packaging design, branding, manufacturing, quality assurance, and labelling and logistics management which hinder women in this sector from penetrating bigger markets. EAWiBP has demonstrated experience in linking and connecting women entrepreneurs to markets opportunities, information, skills, and technology as well as advocacy for policy reforms towards a favourable business environment.

The overall goal of project is Increased Intra-Regional Trade and Value Addition for Market Access for Women Enterprises in Agro-Processing Sectors in Kenya Tanzania and Uganda.

  1. Objective 1
To increase market access and competitiveness of women MSMEs in Agro processing sector on value addition and market access for selected agro-products.
  2. Objective 2
